Israeli-occupied US Congress seeks war with Iran: Analyst

22 Jul 2015 - 15:39

The Zionist lobby in the United States is using its tremendous influence in Congress to place Israel’s interest ahead of America’s, including launching more conflicts in the Middle East and trying to derail any nuclear agreement with Iran, a political commentator in Los Angeles says.

“You’ve got an Israeli-occupied US Congress that had pushed for the Iraq war for Israel,” said James Morris, editor of America-hijacked.com, a blog charting the influence of the Jewish lobby.

“And those same Israel-first Jewish neoconservative want a war with Iran and the way they think they can get that done is by derailing the Iran deal with their proxies in the US Congress,” Morris told Press TV on Wednesday.

“They’re nothing but traitors to America, pushing another war for Israel vs. Iran like they did with Iraq,” he added.

Iran and the P5+1 group -- the United States, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany –  reached a conclusion on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on July 14 in the Austrian capital of Vienna following days of intensive talks over Tehran’s nuclear program.

The conclusion of the Iran nuclear talks has come under heavy criticism from Israel and from Republicans in Congress, which could vote to reject it; though it is unlikely they would get enough votes to override a presidential veto.

Morris said US President Barack Obama was “accurate” and “spot on” when he compared on Tuesday opponents of Iran’s nuclear conclusion with war-mongering politicians in Washington “who were so quick to go to war in Iraq” in 2003.

Obama made the remarks at the 116th national convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at the David Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

“In the debate over this deal, we’re hearing the echoes of some of the same policies and mindset that failed us in the past,” Obama said. “Some of the same politicians and pundits that are so quick to reject the possibility of a diplomatic solution to Iran’s nuclear program are the same folks who were so quick to go to war in Iraq, and said it would take a few months.”
