17 Apr 2018 - 16:43

February 4, The Iran Project – Recently, Several high-ranking Iranian officials have shown tough reaction to the recent terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, which killed at least 100 people and injured 150 others.

The Daesh terrorist group has taken advantage of the chaos in Afghanistan and expanded its foothold across the country.

On Jan 27, a fatal car bomb attack has hit near foreign diplomatic missions and government buildings in the heart of the Afghan capital, Kabul.

According to witnesses and officials, an ambulance laden with explosives went off at a police checkpoint near an office of the High Peace Council and a number of foreign diplomatic missions. The Afghan Health Ministry says death toll has risen to 95, with 158 wounded.

Meanwhile, two days later other suicide bombers attacked Kabul police station in Afghanistan. One of the attackers was arrested and three others were killed.

Deep Regret

Voicing deep regret over the great loss of life in recent terror attacks in Afghanistan, Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei said the US has sent ISIL terrorists there to justify its presence in the region and create security for the Israeli regime.

“The same hands that were involved in the creation of ISIL and used it as a tool to commit crimes against the people of Syria and Iraq, are after bringing ISIL to Afghanistan now that their plots have been foiled in those two countries,” the Leader said, stressing that the recent attacks on the Afghan soil have been carried out in line with this new US strategy.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted the US’ priority in its foreign policy to preoccupy regional nations with their problems, adding “the US is after ruining everything for the countries in the region. It seeks to preoccupy regional governments and nations with their internal problems so as to distract them from confronting the epitome of sinister Arrogance, which is Zionism.”

“The Americans are themselves the main cause of insecurity in Afghanistan,” he stressed. “The killings that have occurred in the region in the name of religion since some 20 years ago, were all done by the hands of US agents, whether directly or indirectly.”

“Washington creates insecurity to justify its presence in the Middle East and to advance its political and economic objectives,” the Leader concluded.

 Terrorist Attacks

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in separate messages to Afghan House of Representatives and Senate Speakers on Monday extended condolences on the occasion of those killed by terrorists in Kabul.

In the messages, Larijani strongly condemned the terrorist attacks and sympathized with the families of the victims, Afghan government, nation and parliament speakers of Senate and House of Representatives.

 Strategic Mistake

Hossein Amir Abdollahian International Adviser to the Iranian parliament speaker raised the alarm about the United States’ attempts to revive the Daesh terrorist group in northern Afghanistan, describing it as yet another strategic mistake of Washington.

The US attempts are aimed at protecting Daesh and terrorism, he stated, adding that such moves can seriously endanger the future of Iraq, the region, and the world.

“The continuation of the US regional game and its use of Daesh in Afghanistan is a new strategic mistake of the White House,” the adviser noted.

Back in August, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned against re-emergence of Daesh in other regions, particularly Central Asia.

“After suffering a complete defeat in Iraq and Syria, terrorists are likely to try to permeate across the region. Thus, all of us should be wary of such a threat (in the region), as in the Caucasus and Central Asia,” Rouhani said in a meeting with his Armenian counterpart.

Raising Aarm

President of the Supreme National Defense University of Iran General Ahmad Vahidi also raised the alarm about Washington’s continued support for the Daesh terrorist group and said the US is seeking to move the extremists to Central Asia and Afghanistan.

General Vahidi, the former defense minister, pointed to the collapse of Daesh Takfiri group in the Middle East region and and asserted that Western powers had backed the terrorists and tried to prevent the defeat of Daesh in Iraq and Syria.

Since the terror group collapsed in the countries, the US has sought to move the Daesh elements to the Central Asia and Afghanistan, he noted.

Sinister Phenomenon of Terrorism

Moreover, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi slammed terrorist explosion in Kabul, Afghanistan, which killed scores of innocent people.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has always underlined the importance of fighting terrorism and has indicated its firm determination in this case, Qasemi said.

'We believe that honest cooperation and consultations among regional countries is the only way to fight the sinister phenomenon of terrorism,' he added.
