Jazmourian Wetland seen in this file photo is one the unique natural ecosystems of Iran. The wetland is one of two major wetlands in southeastern Iran after Hamouns. Jazmourian, the single water source of Kerman Province, is grappling with complete desiccation in recent years. Revival of the imperiled lagoon is among top priorities of the Department of Environment. In local dialect ‘Jaz’ means ‘plants’ and ‘Mourian’ means ‘plenty’ therefore, Jazmourian means a land with plenty of plants.
