Larijani honors martyrs, injured victims of Iraqi chemical attacks on Sardasht

Mahabad, June 28, IRNA - Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Saturday honored the martyrs and the injured victims of chemical attacks on Sardasht.
Larijani made the remarks in a message presented to the seminar marking anniversary of the Iraqi chemical attacks on the Iranian city of Sardasht in 1987.
Brave Iranian nation are present in all scenes and successfully overcome many ups and downs as well as threats, he said.

The oppressed people in Sardasht on June, 28, 1987 were attacked by war planes of the then Iraqi Ba?ath regime which claimed lives of many innocent civilians and injures dozens of others and registered the name of the city in history, he said.

The brave Iranian nation never forget the memory of the victims who succumbed to the injuries of the chemical weapons.

Some 116 citizens of Sardasht were martyred and over 5,000 people were wounded by the deadly chemical attacks.

Iraqi war planes targeted civilians in the city of Sardasht in West Azarbaijan on 28 of June, 1987 with chemical weapons.
