TEHRAN July 16 (Shana)--Gas delivery to power plants hit a record high for the second time in past 15 days.
NIGC’s spokesman Majid Boujarzadeh said the volume of gas delivery to power plants hit a record high of 225 mcm on July 15. NIGC also supplied power plants with 205 mcm several days ago which was in itself a new record in this time of the year.
Since the beginning of new Iranian calendar year on March 21 through July 15, the amount of gas delivery to power plants has gone up by 44 percent against the similar period last year, NIGC spokesman noted.
According to the Bojarzadeh NIGC has decided to raise the volume of gas delivery to power plants and at the same time to lower delivery of liquid fuel as much as possible.
Earlier NIGC’s director for planning Torbati told Shana it is envisaged that the amount of gas delivery to power plants will rise to 42 bcm this year implying 6 bcm more in comparison to last year’s delivery. NIGC’s gas delivery to power plants stood at 36 bcm last year.
Torbati further noted that NIGC pursue developments in South Pars gas field phases closely. South Pars gas field is responsible for the bulk of gas being used in the country.
