Iran loses to Sri Lanka in Asian Women's U19 Volleyball Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran fell short on Friday with a defeat against Sri Lanka in the 17th Asian Women's U19 Volleyball Championship.



The Iranian team lost to Sri Lanka 3-1(25-15, 16-25, 26-24, 25-16) at the Taipei University Gymnasium.


Iran had already  lost to host Chinese Taipei in straight sets (25-11,25-13, 25-15) on Thursday.

The 15 teams are divided into four pools with a single round robin system in place for the preliminary round, which will be played over three days.

The top two teams from each pool will advance to the quarterfinals, while the lower-ranked sides will compete in the 9th-15th classification round.

Pool A only consists of three teams: hosts Chinese Taipei, Iran and Sri Lanka. China, Kazakhstan, New Zealand and Vietnam are in Pool B. Pool C includes Japan, India, Turkmenistan and Hong Kong (China). Thailand, Korea, Australia and Macao are in Pool D.
