Tehran, July 23, IRNA - The Iranian Space Agency recently outlined its strategic plan at the 125th session of advisory working group of the country’s Comprehensive Scientific Plan Headquarters.
The session, hosted by the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution, was chaired by the headquarters’ deputy head Mansour Kabganian.
The agency unveiled Iran’s 10-year space program in four sections: Space telecommunication, remote sensing, positioning as well as navigation, exploration, time measurement and space biology.

Based on Comprehensive Scientific Plan and Comprehensive Aerospace Development, the program has three axes: 1. Sending a man into space 2. Communications satellite and 3. Remote sensing satellite systems.

Remote sensing is the acquisition of information about an object or phenomenon without making physical contact with the object and is thus in contrast to in-situ observation.

In modern usage, the term generally refers to the use of aerial sensor technologies to detect and classify objects on Earth (both on the surface, and in the atmosphere and oceans) by means of propagated signals (e.g. electromagnetic radiation).

It may be split into active remote sensing, when a signal is first emitted from aircraft or satellites) or passive (e.g. sunlight) when information is merely recorded.
