TEHRAN August 18 (Shana)--Development of gas supply across the country will help the country’s economy get out of stagnation, a senior gas official said.
“The country’s economy logically depends on gas and the country’s energy mix depends on this fuel,” Hamid-Reza Araqi, managing-director of National Iranian Gas Company, said.
He added that enhanced gas production has been insisted on by Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh.
“Increased gas production develops gas supply in the country and creates jobs,” said Araqi.
He added that improved gas supply will generate value-added which would create jobs for pushing the country out of recession.
Araqi said Iran, like other gas-producing countries, has to consider different options for diversifying its gas exports.
He said that Iran plans to deliver gas through pipelines and in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
