Tehran, August 18, IRNA – Iran?s Mehdi Es-haqi won gold medal of taekwondo on Monday at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China.
The Nanjing 2014 taekwondo competitions kicked off on Sunday August 17.
Es-haqi, in - 48-kg weight category, defeated his rivals from Thailand and France on his way to the final game where he emerged triumphant against his Taiwanese competitor 17-9 and received gold medal.
The Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games features 3,800 athletes from 204 nations. The 13-day competition for athletes between the ages of 15 and 18 will include all 28 sports on the program for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
