TEHRAN, Sep. 23 (MNA) – 'Hush! Girls Don’t Scream' and 'Memories on Stone' were screened at the 10th annual Eurasia International Film Festival held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Iranian social drama Hush! Girls Don’t Scream directed by Pouran Derakhshandeh which has garnered award at the 2014 edition of Irvine International Film Festival (IIFF) in the United States and was crowned as best film at the 4th London Iranian Film Festival, has been put on display at the 10th annual Eurasia International Film Festival held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.


Hush! Girls Don’t Scream narrates the story of a young woman, who awaits trial and death sentence for having murdered a complete stranger. The story unravels the mystery with a focus on the restraining social conventions that place women at a disadvantage when trying to deal with sensitive issues.





Shawkat Amin Korki’s latest feature film Memories on Stone which was produced with the cooperation of a number of Iranian, German and Iraqi Kurd film industries, enjoyed its second international appearance at this film festival.


Memories on Stone is the story of two childhood friends Alan and Hussein, who, after Saddam’s collapse in Iraq, decide to produce a film about the Al-Anfal Kurdish genocide.





The Eurasia Film Festival took place from September 15 to 20 in Almaty. The jury includes Chinese film director, screenwriter and producer Jia Zhangke, South Korean film director Lee Chang-dong, leading German filmmaker Andreas Dresen, Belarusian actress and film director Olga Dyhovichnaya and legendary Kazakh actor Asanali Ashimov.


12 films entered the main competition program of the Eurasia Film Festival, including Naomi’s Kawase Still the Water (Japan, Ireland, France and Spain), Mehmet Aktas and Shawhat Amin Korki’s Memories on Stone (Iraq, Germany and Iran), A Hard Day (South Korea) by Seoung-hoon Kim, and Pouran Derakhshandeh’s Hush!Girls Don’t Scream (Iran).
