Geneva, Oct 12, IRNA – Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani arrived in Geneva, Switzerland, to attend 131th Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting on Sunday.
The Autumn session of the IPU will start its work from Monday October 13 in Geneva in the presence of representatives from 141 countries.
Around 35 parliament speakers, 20 vice-speakers and other high-level delegates from world parliaments are attending the Geneva gathering.
Larijani is to deliver his speech in the meeting on Tuesday.
Iranian delegation includes 9 parliament deputies.
Simultaneously with IPU session, meeting of Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Assembly will be held in Geneva, too.
The IPU was founded 125 years ago with the aim of promotion of world peace and security through political dialogue and promotion of democracy and respect for human rights.
