INCHEON, Oct. 23 (MNA) – Iran’s Para Asiad delegation stands in fourth place in the ranking, replacing Uzbekistan in medal quality.
In the sixth day of Incheon Para Asiad, Iran’s athletes improved their medal count and quality to replace Uzbekistan in fourth place. Iran’s track and field contributed most to the medal quality and count. In discus throw, Masoud Heidari in F12 class came first to win the gold with 45.20 meters, and his fellow thrower Fallah Nasirpourian won the silver with 37.05 meters.
In fifth day of the games on Wednesday, Mohammad Yari set a new world record in discus throw F56 class with a throw of 45.49 meters to win gold. Iran’s second thrower Parviz Golpasand also secured silver with a record of 36.27 meters.
In weight throw F34 class final round, Iran’s Saleh Farajzadeh stood in the second place after Qatar’s Abdolqadir Abdulrahman. Iran’s Mohsen Kaeidi also won the bronze medal with 9.84 meters throw.
In women’s F44 discus throw, Solmaz Bazar stood in third place behind Chinese throwers. In men’s F35/36 class discus throw, Seyed Mehran Hosseini came first with a record of 40.14 meters. This was Iran’s 21st gold medal in the games. Earliear in the track and field, Iran’s Abdolreza Jokar secured 20 gold for Iran in javelin with a record of 20.19 meters in F53/54 class.
In archery, Iran’s women’s mixed compound team defeated South Korean team 147-144 to grab a team gold. Somayeh Abbaspour and his husband Hadi Nouri were in Iran’s squad. Zahra Nemati and Ebrahim Ranjbar won bronze medal in Recurve Archery defeating Iraq 6-0. Nemati also won second gold of hers defeating Chinese shooter in golden shoots after drawing 5-5. In men’s individual compound, Hadi Nouri won his Hong Kong rival 142-136 to win gold for archery. He had won gold in mixed team section. Ebrahim Ranjbar also won the gold with a 5-0 win against Chinese rival to add to Iran’s archery gold medals.
In weightlifting, Iran’s Saman Razi won silver medal in 97kg class, controlling 208kg weight. In women’s volleyball, Iran’s team lost in final game 3-0 to China and finished with a silver medal. Iran’s goalball also followed the suit to won a silver after a defeat in the hands of Chinese women. In football, Iran crushed Japan 5-0 to win Iran’s 26th gold medal in Incheon.
