TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Head of Iran’s Civil Defense Organization called for an inclusive defense strategy to fight a “full-fledged economic war” imposed by the enemies against the Islamic Republic.
“Our first approach in the face of the economic war is that the government, the country and the whole parts which have a role in economy, including the private sector and people, should follow an economic defense strategy,” Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali said, addressing a congregation of Iranian worshippers in Tehran on Friday.
Echoing previous remarks by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei about the country’s entanglement in a full-fledged economic war, Jalali called on the Iranian organizations to “gain an understanding of the model, paradigm and objectives of that war” to be able to counteract.
Back in February, Ayatollah Khamenei outlined the general policies on “Resistance Economy” to boost the country’s economy and lower its vulnerabilities.
The Supreme Leader had explained that complying with a “scientific and indigenous” paradigm inspired by the Islamic and revolutionary culture will turn out to be the factor of enemies' failure and retreat in the economic war imposed on Iran.
Western sanctions against Iran started in early 1980s, and since then the country has come under dozens of sanctions. Some of them are based on UN Security Council resolutions, others are decisions by the European Union, others are acts of the US Congress and still others are executive orders by the US president.
