TEHRAN, Nov. 26 (MNA) – The deputy head of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIOPDC) has said Iran will stop gasoline imports next year.
Shahrokh Khosravani told Mehr News that with the operation of new refinery in Isfahan and the first phase of Persian Gulf Star refinery, Iran would stop imports of gasoline completely.


“Iran has imported an average of 5 million liters of gasoline daily; currently, the design and installment of machinery in Isfahan refinery has completed,” he added.


“Sanctions prevented provision of catalysts needed in the gasoline production project; now, an indigenous catalyst production plan is underway by Iranian expertise,” Khosravani told Mehr News, adding that “the refinery will produce 4 million liters of gasoline with Euro 4 quality standard daily.”


“About 70 per cent of construction of Persian Gulf Star condensate gas refinery has been achieved; according to schedule, the first phase will enter operation by next year (beginning March 21, 2015),” he said.


“Bandar Abbas refinery is also in the final phase of construction; with all of these refineries entering operation, Iran will practically abandon imports of gasoline by next September,” he asserted.
