Senior cleric urges strengthening Iran-Egypt ties

11 Dec 2014 - 11:40

Tehran, Dec 10, IRNA – Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi-Golpayegani called for strengthening of relations between Iran and Egypt.
In a meeting with Iran's envoy in Al-Azhar Great Conference, Ahmad Moballeghi, he said that efforts should be made to promote bilateral ties.
All should know that there is no dispute between the two nations; rather there exist signs of proximity between them, the senior cleric said.

'We should have further ties with Islamic states, especially Egypt, and the government should take steps in line with strengthening ties at the earliest,' he said.

Commenting on Egyptians' characteristics, the religious authority noted that they loved Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) Household from the beginning and now they appear in holy shrines en masses due to their huge interest in them.

Moballeghi attended the conference on 'fighting terrorism and extremism' in Cairo during December 3-4 at the invitation of Shaykh Al-Azhar.
