TEHRAN Dec 19 (Shana)--National Petrochemical Company (NPC) is regularly reimbursing its debts to foreign banks and financers, a top petrochemical official said.
Issa Mashayekhi said NPC has so far repaid some $4.5 billion to foreign lenders and that it has still to pay $1.5 billion.
He said that Iran’s petrochemical industry has borrowed a total of $6 billion from foreign entities, adding that it has got no foreign finance since 2009.
Mashayekhi said international sanctions against Iran’s petrochemical sector have been lifted, but banking restrictions hamper petrochemical transactions.
