Iran launches 1st civilian pilot training program

30 Dec 2014 - 14:58

TEHRAN, Dec. 30 (MNA) – Iran Civil Aviation Organization director has heralded the launch of IHC’s first civilian pilot training program in the country.
“After obtaining a permit to purchase four helicopters for training purposes, Iranian Helicopter Company (IHC) has launched its first pilot training program in the country,” said Iran Civil Aviation Organization Director Alireza Jahangirian on Tuesday.

Jahangirian maintained that Iranian experts had to receive training abroad before the launch of Iran’s own aviation training courses, adding that the Iranian pilot training center issues certificates approved by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization (CAO).

“Iran holds a good position in the region training-wise,” said Jahangirian, referring to three training programs for Islamic and regional experts under the auspices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Jahngirian stressed that CAO welcomes any projects on expanding air fleet including aircrafts, helicopters, and buying high technology parts so that Iran’s air transportation industry would reach its rightful position.

Some twenty applicants have currently enrolled in Iran’s first pilot training program after passing various examinations.

Iranian Helicopter Company (IHC) was formed in 1979. It is the largest non-military helicopter service provider in the country and the Middle East, with the least rate of accidents on the world scale, according to its website.
