Iran’s non-oil exports hit $35.2bln in 9 months

5 Jan 2015 - 16:34

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s non-oil exports have witnessed an 18 percent increase during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 - December 21, 2014), compared to the same period last year, an Iranian trade official announced.

The total value of the country’s non-oil exports, including gas condensate, during the 9-month period has reached $35.2 billion, showing an 18 percent growth, Head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran Valiollah Afkhami Rad said during the second day of an economic conference in Tehran on Monday.

The volume of the exported products during the mentioned period had 5% increase, he added.

Afkhami Rad said that China with 26%, Iraq with 18%, the United Arabic Emirates with 11%, Afghanistan with 7% and India with 6.3% were the main importers of the Iranian non-oil products, respectively.

Earlier last month, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said non-oil exports will boost in 2015 as part of efforts to decrease the country’s dependence on oil revenues.

“We need to increase non-oil exports to make up for the decreases in oil revenues,” Rouhani said, describing the sliding crude prices as a new opportunity for Iran to reduce dependence on oil revenues.
