Tehran, Jan 5, IRNA -- Energy efficiency in Iran and other countries in the region fell by 9 percent and 6 percent respectively when compared with figures in 2007, a professor of economics said.
Addressing Iran’s first National Economy Conference, Azam Mohammad Bagheri said a study conducted on energy efficiency in Iran and its neighboring countries showed that energy efficiency in Yemen, UAE, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia is above 90 percent while in Iran it stands between 70 to 80 percent.
According to shana.ir, the study showed that Kuwait, Qatar, Turkey and Azerbaijan Republic enjoy the best performance in the region in view of energy efficiency.
She noted that Iran will be able to improve its energy efficiency through boosting competitiveness, innovation and improving productivity in the framework of the Economy of Resistance.
The two-day conference, which kicked off on Sunday with a speech by President Hassan Rouhani, wrapped up Monday.
