TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran would extract 40.000 oil barrels from South Yaran Oil Field by the first six months of the next Iranian calendar year (starts on March 21, 2015).
The oil field is shared by both Iran and Iraq, and is being developed now.
The oil field which is 22 kilometers long and 2.5 kilometers long is located 130 km west of Ahvaz city south of Iran in Khozestan province along the border line with Iraq
Iran would launch the first phase of North Azadegan Oil Field in coming months which would produce 75.000 oil barrels per day.
The amount would increase to 150.000 barrels in case the second phase of the oil field shared with Iraq is launched. The first phase would be opened in June or July.
Expulsion of Chinese contractor from South Azadegan Oil Field project has stepped up development of North Azadegan Oil Field project as well.
National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has already said that 80.000 oil barrels would be produced from the oil field by the end of the next Iranian calendar year.
91 percent of North Azadegan Oil Field has been accomplished, said Keramatollah Behbahani who is in charge of development of the first phase of the project.
He also said Iraq has not used the joint oil field yet, adding all required processes, including oil and gas extraction, desalination, gas dehydration, water injection to oil reservoirs, the reservoirs and power plants are available in the country.
On April 30, China National Petroleum Corporation International (CNPCI) was expelled from Iran after it failed to comply with its undertakings for raising the production of Azadegan field.
A decree expelling the CNPCI came into force by Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar- Zanganeh after the firm was repeatedly warned to face a prospect of expropriation for procrastination in meeting its promises in the South Azadegan Oil Field which the country shares with Iraq.
Managing Director of the NIOC Roknoddin Javadi had announced Iran's firm decision to expel the Chinese firm, adding Iran had repeatedly warned the CNPCI officially of expulsion.
