TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei and Director General of Russia Energy Agency Anatoly Tikhanov discussed new avenues for expanding mutual cooperation in the energy sector.
At the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of implementing energy cooperation agreements.
Sanaei expressed hope that the enhancement of energy relations would affect economic relations positively.
Tikhanov, for his part, voiced his country's determination to expand cooperation with all countries of the region given the latest developments in energy market.
On Wednesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that expansion of Tehran-Moscow relations has been recently accelerated in various economic, political and military arenas.
"Iran is our neighbor. We are developing close relations with it in trade, economy, and military-technical sphere, and also in areas that are outside the scope of UN Security Council sanctions. We interact on the Caspian Sea, too," Lavrov said.
"Iran is a major power having rich history. Without its participation any long-term solution to regional problems, including in Syria and Iraq, will be just impossible," the top Russian diplomat added.
