UNWTO secretary general to visit Iran

Tehran, Feb 2, IRNA – The 8th Tehran International Tourism Exhibition on hotel, travel and tourism services and equipment will be held on 12-15 February 2015 with the participation of 11 countries and in the presence of Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Taleb Rifai.
Morteza Rahmani Movahed, a deputy at Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization told reporters at a press conference that in addition to Iran countries such as South Korea, Turkey, India, Switzerland, Venezuela, Armenia, Thailand, China, Vietnam, Tunisia and Malaysia are also participating in the exhibition.

He said the opening session will be also attended by UNWTO secretary general which is an indication of the importance of the event.

Rahmani Movahed added that planning was made for holding the exhibition since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 2014) adding that it will be held in an area of 26 thousand square meters and in 7 halls of Tehran Permanent Fairground.

The official noted that although the exhibition is a movement forward, it should not be expected that the result will be ideal but efforts will be made to turn the exhibition into a serious and effective measure in the exhibition calendar of the country.

Simultaneously with the exhibition expert conferences in related fields, including health tourism, new marketing methods and balanced distribution of visits will be held.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of International Exhibitions Company Farhad Aminian said the exhibition is a means for development of tourism the positive results of which will be manifested in the years to come.

He pointed to the presence of 320 domestic and foreign companies in this year’s exhibition and said the figure showed an increase of 50% compared to the previous year.
