TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani reiterated Iranian nation’s resolve to restore the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
“We are very serious in restoring our (nuclear) rights,” Rafsanjani said in a meeting with Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni in Tehran on Sunday.
He said “no power can deprive the Iranian people of their rights,” and added that Iran believes that nuclear technology should be used to improve the people’s lives like in all countries that enjoy such technologies.
The former Iranian president further lashed out at Western countries for adopting policy of sanctions, and described it as “strategic mistake”.
For his part, the Italian foreign minister expressed the hope that nuclear talks between Iran and six world powers would pave the way for Iran’s cooperation with world.
He stated that the lifting of sanctions on Iran will pave the way for expansion of ties with Iran.
