Tehran, March 14, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said Saturday that misinterpretation of remarks made by presidential advisor Younesi is a deliberate attempt to overshadow great victories of Iraqi government and nation.
Asked by Iraq's al-Raie news agency to comment on remarks by President Hassan Rouhani's special aide Ali Younesi, Afkham said that Islamic Republic's foreign policy has always been based on respecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity, stability, security and national solidarity of all nations, particularly the neighboring countries.
While Iran is responsibly, clearly and influentially standing by the Iraqi government and nation to back the country's independence and territorial integrity, some with their deliberate misinterpretations of Mr. Younesi's remarks have attempted to overshadow victories of Iraqi people and government, Afkham said.
Actually what was said by the presidential aide was an insistence on deep and inseparable solidarity between Iranian and Iraqi culture and civilization, she said.
Afkham said that deliberate misinterpretation of Mr. Younesi's remarks aims to stir up Iranophobia and the conspiracy being pursued by the extremist groups and the Zionist regime to divide the regional countries.
