Kuala Lumpur, March 16, IRNA – Iran-Malaysia Parliamentary Friendship Group met with Malaysian Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities here on Monday during which the two sides called for expansion of mutual cooperation.
In the meeting, the Malaysian Minister Ammar Douglas Uggah Embas referred to extensive bilateral relations in the past years and emphasized on keeping and upgrading the ties.
He also briefed the Iranian delegation on Malaysia agro-based industries and various grounds for export of Iranian agricultural products to Malaysia and urged merchants to bemore more active in this field.
Meanwhile, Head of Iran Malaysia Parliamentary Friendship Group Mohammad Mehdi Zahedi said the two countries have the potential to expand trade ties and necessry facilities should be provided for export of Iranian products to Malaysia.
The two sides also talked about import of palm oil from Malaysia which was sharply decreased in 2014.
The two countries trade exchange was about one billion and four hundred million dollars in 2012 and over one billion in 2013, but the trade decreased to 740 million dollars in 2014.
