The Iran's Defense Ministry plans to promote exports of military equipment in the next year.
Iran's Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Majid Bokaei stated that his ministry has initiated massive plans to promote the exports of arms and military equipment to friendly and neighboring countries in the new Iranian calendar year which starts on March 21, 2012, FNA reported on Saturday.
In addition to attaining self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems, the Islamic Republic is currently exporting military equipment to 40 countries, despite 30-year-long sanctions against the defense industries, General Yadollah Javani told FNA in July 2010.
Yet, the Iranian officials have always emphasized that the country's military and arms programs serve defensive purposes and poses no threat to other countries.
