TEHRAN (FNA)- UN Special Envoy to Syria Stephan De Mistura officially invited Iran to participate in the Geneva-3 conference on Syria during his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of the 2015 NPT Review Conference in New York.

Following the meeting, Stephan De Mistura told reporters he has officially invited Iran to participate in the Geneva-3 conference on Syria, adding that he had positive and constructive talks with Zarif.

Asked if Iran will accept the invitation, he said this question must be asked of Mr Zarif, but that he thinks the answer would be "positive".

Earlier, De Mistura had described Iran as one of the strongest regional countries, whose partnership in Geneva conference on Syria will be positive.
