Tehran, April 29, IRNA -- Jamal Benomar, the former UN special envoy to Yemen, said on Wednesday that there is no evidence to substantiate Iran interfering in Yemen.

'Current clashes in Yemen are direct result of efforts of a group of countries that want to get Ansarallah Front out of the political cycle. In three-year tenure as the UN envoy I have found no evidence of Iran's role and interference in Yemen,' said Benomar quoted by al-Saada news network.

He criticized ousted and fugitive President of Yemen Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi as 'insincere lacking conscience.'

Benomer's speech was contrary to the claims of Washington and Riyadh that Iran interfered in the region and Yemen.

He said his dismissal was the result of the pressure of governments of Qatar and Saudi Arabia on the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

Benomar, who resigned from his office recently, made the remarks in a speech hours before submitting his report to the UN Security Council.

He said the belligerent parties in Yemen were close to agreement and contribution to future government of the country but suddenly Yemen air raid by Saudi fighters started and changed every thing.

The United Nations has nominated a new special envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.
