TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian lawmaker underlined that the US and the Zionist regime of Israel intend to get access to Iran's military sites under the pretext of nuclear inspection.
"The Americans and the global Zionism are seeking to use the nuclear case as a pretext to infiltrate Iran's sensitive military sites and (the country's national) security domain," Ebrahim Karkhanei, chairman of the parliament's nuclear committee told the Tasnim News Agency on Sunday.
He added, however, that the "revolutionary and powerful" nation of Iran will follow the path of the leadership and never allow the enemies of the Islamic Revolution to inspect the country's military sites.
Earlier on April 9, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei categorically rejected foreign access to the country's "security and defensive" sectors under the pretext of nuclear monitoring.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, France, Britain, and Germany) are in talks to hammer out a final agreement to end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran’s peaceful nuclear energy program.
On Thursday, a senior Iranian nuclear negotiator stressed that once the long-awaited nuclear deal is reached between Tehran and the sextet, the International Atomic Energy Agency’s access to Iran’s non-nuclear sites would be limited to the framework of the Additional Protocol of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Also, Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi has underlined that in the provisions of the protocol, there is no specific obligation for signatory countries to allow access to their military sites.
