Supreme Leader orders not to deprive Afghan children from education

18 May 2015 - 17:53

Tehran, May 18, The Iran Project - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said that Afghan children, even undocumented or illegal ones, should not be deprived of education and all of them must be enrolled in Iranian schools, Tasnim News Agency said.

A few months ago, Khalilollah Babaloo, Vice Minister of Education for International Affairs officially announced the leader’s statement in the meeting of Afghan Deputy Chief Executive with Iran’s Minister of Education, saying after the Supreme Leader's order, registration of Afghan students in the Iranian schools has increased more than 10 percent.

Stating that Ministry of Education doesn’t believe in the separation of Iranian students from Afghan ones, Babaloo added “it is completely specified in the regulations of the Ministry that there should be no discrimination and difference between the students.”

Having ordered to “honor all Afghan immigrants”, Ayatollah Khamenei showed that Islamic Republic policies towards Afghan immigrants continue to be developed in accordance with the ideals of the revolution.

It seems that this important decision will soon lift one of the main obstacles to the development of immigrant community in Iran.
