Alizadeh first Iranian woman to win medal in World Taekwondo Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Kimia Alizadeh claimed a bronze medal in the 2015 World Taekwondo Championships on Monday.

The Iranian -57kg woman player won the first ever medal in the World Taekwondo Championships.

Alizadeh defeated Olympic gold medal winner Jade Jones 10-9 in the quarterfinals round but lost to Mayu Hamada from Japan 5-3 in the semifinals and claimed the bronze medal.

A total number of 875 athletes from 136 countries competed in the 22nd edition of the competition.
