Velayati urges expansion of Iran-China ties in field of science

Beijing, May 25, IRNA - Head of Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati on Monday urged expansion of ties between Iran and China in field of science and research.


He made the remarks in a meeting with the managers of Huawei Technologies Company which is a multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong.

Velayati said there are good grounds for cooperation between Tehran and Beijing in all fields.

Strategic Research Center of Iran's Expediency Council is ready to develop scientific cooperation with Chinese research institutes, the official added.

Velayati, heading a delegation arrived in Beijing on Saturday to attend the .

Speaking to reporters, the official said on Saturday that CICA is now looking for much bigger goals which is restoration of security to the entire Asian continent.

The Islamic Republic of Iran as one of the main members of CICA, can play a significant role in restoring security and expansion of political and economic cooperation, he said.

CICA summit is held every four years and its ministerial meeting every two years.

CICA has 22 members twelve of which are observers such as international organizations like the United Nations, The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) , Arab League and countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, Ukraine and the US.

China chairs CICA during 2104- 2016.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, South Korea, China, Russia, India, Palestine, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Republic of Azerbaijan and Thailand are among CICA main members.
