TEHRAN, Jun. 28 (MNA) – Tension rises in Pool B of 2015 FIVB world competitions as Iran and US have defeated their rivals on 9th week.
As Iranian volleyballers edged past Poland in Azadi Stadium in Tehran, in the other match of the pool B in 2015 FIVB World League, the Americans thrashed their guests in Moscow on June 26.
On Friday night, the Iranians defeated their guests 3-2 at Tehran’s Azadi stadium, packed with more than 12,000 passionate fans while the table-topper of pool B knocked off host Russia, 25-23, 19-25, 25-23, 25-18 for the second time on Saturday safeguarding its place atop of other competitors of the Pool B.
So at the end of the ninth week, Iran is in the third spot of Pool B with 15 points, below the US with 23 points and Poland with 17. Russia is at the bottom of the table with 2 points bearing no hope to survive.
This weekend, the Americans travel to Poland and Iranians to Russia for the final two regular-season matches.
While the winless Russians bear no hope to survive the pool, the destiny of Iran and Poland is at stake of the remaining three matches of June 28, July 3, and July 5.
Iran and Poland will play their second game of second round today, June 28, at 9 pm Tehran time, 16:30 GMT.
