TEHRAN (ISNA)- Senior Iranian nuclear negotiator said that the Resolution 2231 recently approved by the UN Security Council on Iran’s nuclear program expires ten years after its adoption.

“The resolution is for 10 years,” said Abbas Araqchi.

He rejected the possibility of prolonging the resolution for 15 years, and said, it would last for 10 years, and Iran would not agree with prolonging the resolution for another 5 years.

“Living up to the agreement and pursing commitments of the other side is important for us and we are following it.”

He also said that Iranian nuclear dossier would be removed from the IAEA Board of Directors after 10 years and Iran’s nuclear activities would be normalized after the period.

Moreover, regarding releasing Iranian blocked assets, he said, “All frozen assets need to be released and this is one of the clear articles of the agreement. All of our money needs to be released automatically after sanctions are removed.”

He also said that Geneva Deal is still in place before the time of implementing the agreement which lasts for 4-6 months and based on which $700 million of Iranian blocked assets will be released each month.

The UNSC, based on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), will lift sanctions within a period of ten years during which verifications will be carried out with regards Iran’s nuclear energy program.
