Tehran, July 22, IRNA - Head of the Center for Strategic Studies affiliated to the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati said on Wednesday that fight against terrorism is a global duty requiring collective action by all governments.
He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Swiss Deputy Foreign Minister Yves Rossier.
Fight with terrorism in the Middle East and the entire world is a global duty which requires contribution of all governments and there is no doubt that the Islamic Republic of Iran is harbinger of campaign against terrorism.
European countries such as Switzerland can play a very constructive role in dealing with regional issues, he said.
Current crisis in Syria, Yemen and Lebanon are not a regional issue but it is a global one and it should be regarded as a potential threat to all nations especially the governments which created or supported them.
Combatants from over 70 countries even the European states are currently involved in struggle with the Iraqi and Syrian governments, he said.
'If terrorists were not to be dealt with seriously, they will make a way into Europe as well as other parts of the world in next stages,' he said.
'We are sincerely determined to continue the path and believe that cooperation of the other governments is vital in the international campaign against terrorism,' he said.
The Islamic Republic of Iran plays significant role especially after the nuclear deal to restore peace and security in the region, he said.
Some governments are concerned about recent nuclear deal between Iran and G5+1 but the Islamic Republic of Iran spares no efforts to increase international cooperation, Velyati said.
