9 Aug 2015 - 15:23

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Vice Speaker of Georgia’s parliament Gubaz Sanikidze voiced his country’s keenness to expand cooperation with Iran in various fields.

In a Saturday meeting with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi in Tehran, Sanikidze stressed that Tbilisi attaches special importance to cooperation and friendly ties with Iran.

Hailing the age-old relations between Iran and Georgia, the visiting parliamentarian said his country is prepared to enhance ties with the Islamic Republic in different fields.

He also highlighted Iran’s major role in the regional developments and voiced Georgia’s support for the conclusion of nuclear talks between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

For his part, Sarmadi called for major steps in enhancement of cooperation between Iran and Georgia on issues of mutual interest.

The conclusion of diplomatic talks between Iran and the six powers has encouraged many countries to send political and economic delegations to Iran in the hope of stronger relations with Tehran after implementation of the lasting agreement.

Dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the deal would subject the parties to comply with a series of commitments, resulting in the termination of sanctions on Iran in exchange for certain restrictions on Tehran’s nuclear program during a defined period of time.

Experts believe that Iran’s economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.
