Tehran, Oct 19, IRNA – So-called anti-terror coalition of US and Western countries has not weakened Daesh and other terrorist groups in Mideast, rather it has strengthened them, said head of Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission on Monday.
Alaeddin Borujerdi made the comments in a meeting with the Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Adnan Mahmud, adding that Iran will support every move aimed at restoration of peace and stability and uprooting terrorism in the region, particularly in Syria.
Borujerdi said that the main factor leading to recent chain of victories of the Syrian Army in the campaign against terrorism is trust in God, followed by the staunch resistance of the Syrian government and nation, which can lead to near future ending of the foreign-generated and led crisis in the country.
The senior MP focusing on the catastrophic conditions of the Palestinians in occupied lands, too, said that the ongoing conditions there reflect the natural reaction of the oppressed Palestinians versus the criminal acts of the occupier regime of the Holy Qods Mosque (Dome of the Rock).
The Syrian ambassador, too, for his part appreciated Iran's incessant support for the Syrian nation and government, arguing that the Islamic Republic's moves in the Middle East have always been aimed at restoration of peace and stability and uprooting terrorism and extremism.
Adnam Mahmud also elaborated on Syrian Army and nation's victories in the campaign against Takfiri terrorists, adding that the resistance of the Syrian nation has led to great progress in Syria during the course of the recent weeks.
The Syrian diplomat termed the US-Western countries' anti-terrorism coalition a big lie, reiterating that the world public opinion has come up with the conclusion that the coalition was established to ensure the long life of terrorism and extremism in the region.
