TEHRAN, Nov. 05 (MNA) – The third edition of SalaMindanaw International Film Festival will be held in the Philippines with the participation of 13 films including an Iran’s Elegy.
The film festival scheduled from November 18 to December 2, 2015 will be held in the cities of General Santos and Cotabato. It will hold two sections Asian full-length competition and Asian short film.
Iranian short film Elegy, directed by Yousef Kargar, will vie with 6 other works namely When The Boats Come In (Khin Maung Kyaw, Myanmar), Man in The Cinema House (Bernard Jay Mercado, Philippines), The Cat and The Orange Seeds (Nguyen Le Hoang Viet, Vietnam), November (Shane Lim, Singapore), Following Diana (Kamila Andini, Indonesia) and The Young Man Who Came From The Chee River (Wichanon Somumjarn, Thailand).
Elegy has so far attended more than 50 festivals and garnered several awards as well. Produced by the Orumieh office of Iranian Youth Cinema Society, the film narrates the story of an old man who has been waiting for the return of his missing son for 25 years.
Six films from the Philippines, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia will vie in the Asian full-length competition section.
Iran’s films attend most of the regional film festivals. Iranian flick Azar, Shahdokht, Parviz & Others, directed by Behrouz Afkhami, competed in the Parallel Section: Eurasian Cinescape of the World Premieres Film Festival Philippines 2015.
