TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian judiciary official highlighted the continued hostilities toward the Islamic Republic by certain Western states, including the US, saying that they can never win Iran’s confidence.
No matter how the West acts, Iran is not going to trust it, Chairman of the Iranian Judiciary’s Human Rights Council Mohammad Javad Larijani told the Tasnim News Agency on Friday.
“The Westerners sometimes make vitriolic remarks and sometimes make kind remarks,” he said, adding, “No matter how they talk to us, we will never trust them.”
In recent years, some Western powers have taken hostile stances against the Iranian nation and imposed new sanctions on Iran under the pretext that the country may be trying to develop nuclear weapon capability, an allegation strongly dismissed by Tehran which states that it needs nuclear energy for generating electricity and other purely peaceful purposes.
Many of the sanctions predate the nuclear dispute and some of them are as old as Iran’s Islamic Establishment, and the US has always found pretexts to tighten the existing sanctions and impose new ones.
In similar remarks on Tuesday, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei had said there has been no slackening off in US hostility toward Iran.
Addressing a big crowd of Iranian students in Tehran, the Leader stressed that the US antagonistic attitude towards Iran has not changed a bit, but there are attempts to whitewash the issue.
“In recent years, some have attempted, either deliberately ... or naively, to overlook the (Iranian) nation’s repeated experience (of US hostility), to portray a whitewashed image of the US and to pretend that if the Americans used to be an enemy of Iran one day, they have now stopped plotting (against Iran),” the Leader warned.
The purpose of these attempts, Imam Khamenei cautioned, is to cover up the true color of the enemy, so that the US could continue hostility in disguise and take the time to stab Iran in the back at a proper moment.
