Tehran, Dec 26, IRNA – Head of Strategic Research Center of Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati on Saturday felicitated Unity Week among Muslims saying that confrontation with Takfiri and extremist groups is necessity.


He made the remarks in a meeting with leader of Turkish Shia Community Salahuddin Ozgunduz.
Velayati said that Takfiri terrorists have jeopardized the international peace and security and that they have perpetrated genocide.
Velayati said that enemies of Islam are trying to introduce Islam as supporter of terrorists with a harsh face, but Islam is religion of blessings and high humanitarian thought.
Iran is using its utmost efforts to promote regional cooperation in fight against terrorism and extremism, he said.
Convergence of regional governments and collective cooperation without foreign interference would achieve success in resistance to enemies' plot, Velayati added.
