PSEEZ exports first non-oil consignment to Uzbekistan

28 Dec 2015 - 15:37

TEHRAN, Dec. 28 (Shana) – Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ) has exported its first non-oil cargo to Uzbekistan, head of PSEEZ said.

Mehdi Youserfi said all the exported items are produced by non-oil materials and this is the third of such cargoes to Uzbekistan from Iran.

He said the 500-ton cargo to Uzbekistan heralds a promising prospect for Iran's non-oil exports in the post-sanctions era.

He also added all the items were produced within PSEEZ, a private company in Iran, saying the production generated 150 jobs in the zone.

This export paves the way for the presence of investors in the zone, he added, voicing the company's readiness to absorb investments for expanding its activities.

"By the time all South Pars phases become operational, production from the field will reach 0.8 bcm/d of natural gas which is an eye-catching capacity for investment in PSEEZ," Yousefi added.

Iran sits on the world’s 4th largest oil reserves and the second largest gas reserves.

South Pars, divided into 29 development phases, contains 40 trillion cubic meters (tcm) of natural gas.  It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran’s territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are situated in Qatar’s territorial waters.
The gas field is estimated to contain about eight percent of the world’s reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.
