Call for fostering Iran-Afghanistan all-out ties

Tehran, Jan 6, IRNA - In a meeting with visiting Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah here, Iranian Interior Minister Abdolrahman Fazli called for reinforcement of all-out relations between the two countries.

He also called for fostering mutual relations in political, economic, and security fields and utilizing the untapped potentials for expanding bilateral ties.

Iranian minister also expressed hope that mutual economic cooperation could be expanded in light of holding the fifth Iran-Afghanistan joint cooperation commission and joint meeting of Iran-Afghanistan border provinces.

Abdullah arrived in Tehran on Monday afternoon for a 3-day visit.

So far, he has exchanged views with several high-ranking Iranian officials on bilateral relations and regional cooperation.

Abdullah is the second Afghan senior official, who has visited Iran in the Iranian year of 1394 after President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani paid a visit to Tehran on April 19, 2015.

A high ranking delegation including deputy chief executive Mohammad Mohaqeq, Advisor to Afghan President for national security Mohammad Hanif Atmar, Minister of Immigration Seyed Hossein Alami Balkhi, Minister of Trade and Industry Homayoun Rasa, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Naseem Ouria Kheil, Minister of Information and Culture Abdul Bari Jahani, Minister of Transportation and Civil Aviation Mohammad Betash, Deputy Foreign Minister for political affairs Hekmat Khalil and several advisors at the Presidential Office are accompanying Abdollah Abdollah.
