Saudi FM arrives in Pakistan amid protests

7 Jan 2016 - 18:04

Islamabad, Jan 7, IRNA -- Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Bin Ahmed al-Jubeir arrived in Islamabad on an official two-day visit on Thursday afternoon amid anti-Saudi protests in the capital city.

Upon his arrival on Thursday afternoon, hundreds of Pakistani people held anti-Saudi rally in capital and once again condemned inhuman and anti-human rights execution of Sheikh Nimr.

During the visit, Saudi FM will meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and National Security Adviser Nasir Janjua. There are unconfirmed reports that he might also meet Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif.

Saudi Foreign Minister is expected to discuss Saudi-led aggression on Yemen with Pakistani officials and urge Islamabad to play a role in the invasion.

The visit of Saudi Foreign Minister was earlier planned for last Sunday but anti-Saudi protests in Pakistan and international atmosphere against Saudi regime, forced him to postpone the visit.
