Tehran, Jan 18, IRNA – The Spokesman of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behruz Kamalvandi said here on Monday according to estimates the redesigning of Arak Heavy Water Reactors heart will take three years' time.
'On January 22 the AEOI will sign a contract with China on redesigning of the Arak Reactor, whose heart was taken out in accordance with an internationally and politically approved agreement and its redesigning will take three years according to reliable estimates,' said the AEOI spokesman.
According to the Parliament News Agency (PNA), Kamalvandi rejected as baseless the criticism of some parliament members who believed the heart of Arak Reactor should not have been take out prior to signing the respective contract.
'Such a criticism is out of context, because according to the Supreme Leader's remarks on redesigning the Arak Reactor the only required prerequisite for doing so was preparing the text of a reliable and trustworthy contract for the purpose,' he added.
STRONG POLITICAL, INT'L DOCUMENT ON ARAK REACTOR REDIESIGNING AT HAND
Kamalvandi said that the leader had not specified with which country or company we should sign the contract for redesigning the Arak Reactor.
'Based on the order issued by His Eminence a credible and reliable contract was signed at the initial stage and the required guarantees were gained. This is a strong international, political document signed by the foreign ministers of six world powers,' he added.
THE 5+1G IS SUB-CONTRACTOR IN REDESIGNING
The AEOI spokesman said that the draft for this document was prepared by Iran adding that the main contractor in this document, too, is Iran, while the six world countries are assisting us in proceeding with this project and are therefore sub-contractors.
'Therefore, some major parts of the job will be done by the Iranian companies that are capable of doing so and some parts will be done by the foreign companies. In some parts there will also be cooperation between the Iranian and the foreign companies,' he added.
