Tehran, Jan 19, IRNA - Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif conferred on Tuesday with the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani on expansion of border cooperation in dealing with bandits and armed groups.
In the meeting, Shamkhani said such insecurities have roots in the activities of the intelligent services of the alien countries.
They seek to promote unrest in the region to prevent expansion of economic, commercial and cultural relations and cooperation between the two countries, he said.
To seriously deal with the threat imposed by terrorist groups in the region requires collective contribution of the countries in the region, Shamkhani said.
Mounting tensions and conflicts in the region ruin the assets of the Islamic states and this will be to the benefit of enemies of Islam and give more strength to terrorist groups, he said.
The idea of confronting Muslims is very dangerous, he said.
The idea promoted by Daesh Takfiri terrorists will be harmful for all Muslims no matter Shia or Sunni, he said.
Broadening cooperation and interaction among countries in the region will leave positive impacts on durable security and stability, Shamkhani said.
Military might of Iran and Pakistan play a preventive role in dealing with the plots hatched by the aliens and this power will be at the service of Muslims and protecting the unity and stability of the region, he said.
Given the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he said, 'Through maintaining the security of the boarder regions we can witness eradication of poverty, smuggling of goods, fuel and economic boom in the region which will be harmful for terrorists and bandits as grounds for hiring mercenaries become much less.'
Pakistan Army Chief said that Islamabad is determined to seriously deal with terrorist threats on joint borders.
Close cooperation between Iran and Pakistan on exchange of classified information, security and border cooperation can play vital role in targeting terrorist groups, he said.
The security of Iran and Pakistan is very interrelated and Pakistan is to deal with any threat on Iran's security, said the Pakistani commander.
