Iran exports remarkable amount of drugs to South Africa: Minister

Tehran, February 2, The Iran Project - Ministry of Health says Iran’s export of medicine to South Africa is remarkable, explaining that the amount is expected to be expanded due to the Iran’s high capacity in the pharmaceutical industry.

Speaking on the sidelines of his meeting with the Zimbabwean counterpart, David Parirenyatwa, Iran’s Minister of Health, Seyed Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi noted the current remarkable rate of Iran’s export of medicine to South Africa, saying that the amount is expected to increase due to Iran’s high capacity in pharmaceutical industry and expert human resources.

Referring to two countries' old relationship and various agreements signed between Iran and Zimbabwe, Hashemi said that no effective practical measure has been taken yet in the mutual relationships.

He went on to say that the ministry hopes to pursue Iran’s private sector to invest in Zimbabwe’s pharmaceutical areas and in return the African side is expected to prepare the ground for the registration of Iranian medicines and for export of Iranian productions to other African countries.

“Two sides agreed that one of the Iranian medical universities is assigned to offer the medical training during technical careers in Zimbabwe,” Hashemi added, underlining the African county’s interest in developing the cooperation with Iran in medical training.

Elsewhere in this meeting, David Parirenyatwa, Zimbabwean Minister of Health noted his visit to Iranian pharmaceutical companies, expressing surprise over the measures taken by Iran to promote its pharmaceutical industry.

Pointing to setting up a trade zone in his country, the African official reiterated his willing to invite Iran to build a pharmaceutical production company.
