TEHRAN, Feb. 22 (MNA) – President of Switzerland Johann Schneider-Ammann will visit Iran on 26-28 Feb. according to French-language RTS news website.
Swiss President Johann Schneider-Ammann accompanied by some 40 investors is scheduled to visit Iran on 26-28 February with an aim to expand Bern-Tehran economic relations following the removal of sanctions, announced the French-language news website of Radio and Television of Switzerland (RTS).
“The Swiss industrialists who intended to accompany Schneider on this visit were so much more in numbers, but only 35-40 of them managed to be included in the economic delegation headed for Tehran,” said the report.
Philippe Welti, president of the Swiss-Iranian Chamber of Commerce, said of the upcoming trip, “what really matters here is the actual significance of this visit. The important issue is the revival of relations with Iran at an industrial and then politicial level. The visit has been planned at a good time.”
In April, a senior Swiss economic delegation, led by former Swiss ambassador to Tehran, Livia Leu, traveled to Iran for exploratory talks. She had said Switzerland held a good position in its relations with Iran and could compete with other countries in this regard. The visit had been made prior to the finalization of Iran’s nuclear agreement.
