Hafez poems translation into Serbian unveiled in Belgrade

Tehran, February 22, The Iran Project – The Serbian translation of Hafez poems was unveiled in Belgrade, during a ceremony with the attendance of Iranian and Serbian officials, experts interested in Iran's literature at the National Library of Belgrade, Serbia.

During the ceremony which was held on Sunday at the hall of the Serbia National Library with the participation of Iranian embassy and Cultural Attaché staff in Belgrade, Serbian National Library officials and number of experts, researchers and students in the country, the Serbian translation of Hafiz poems was unveiled.

Addressing the participants, Laslo Vlaškovi? the head of national library and a leading poet at Balkan region highlighted the precious translation of valuable poets of Hafez, noting the significance of this development in the history of library.

Referring to the high standing of Persian poems and literature, he welcomed the increasing translation of Persian books into Serbian language.

Elsewhere in this ceremony, Majid Fahimpour, Iran's ambassador to Belgrade, delivered speech, explaining the unique position of Hafez and his poets in Iran's literature.

Slobodan Jorovi?, Serbian poet and critic has translated Hafez poems into Serbian. Earlier he also translated a number of Iranian literary works including Attar’s ‘Manteq-al-Tayr’ (The Conference of the Birds) into Serbian.
