Tehran, Feb 23, IRNA - Azeri President Ilham Aliyev, heading a delegation, arrived in Tehran on Tuesday.
Upon arrival at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport, Aliyev was warmly welcomed by Minister of Information and Communications Technology Mahmoud Vaezi.
The visit of the Azeri president is taking place upon an official invitation extended to him by President Hassan Rouhani.
Azeri president will be officially welcomed by his Iranian counterpart in the cultural and Historical Complex of Saadabad in north of Tehran within hours.
Yesterday, Aliyev said that his visit to Iran aims to bolster relations between the two neighboring states.
He expressed hope that the visit would help broaden affinities between the two nations more than ever.
Referring to the previous meetings with President Rouhani, he said that he had held negotiations with the Iranian president and signed various agreements in political, economic and cultural areas.
In Tehran, the two sides will review regional and global developments and will sign various memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on mutual interests, he said.
The prospects of economic cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan are very promising, underlined the Azeri president.
He said that Iran-Azerbaijan joint economic commission has offered a new economic package to augment trade and economic cooperation.
