Two Mexican trade delegations to visit Tehran

24 Feb 2016 - 12:26

TEHRAN, Feb. 24 (MNA) – Mexican ambassador to Iran said his country will deploy two business delegations to Iran within months to compensate for the lag in relations with Iran.

At a meeting with Iran’s deputy industry minister, Mexico’s ambassador to Iran Ulises Canchola Gutiérrez said “two Mexican trade delegations will leave for Iran in April and May while a huge delegation of economic officials and activists of Mexico will travel to Iran in September.”

Gutiérrez voiced satisfaction towards Iran’s diplomatic achievements expressing hope that a working group will be formed to ensure fruitfulness of the upcoming trips.

“Iran remains as a stable country in the region and I have observed improvement in various Iranian provinces over the past two years; fortunately, proper grounds exist for expansion of Tehran-Mexico City ties which require cooperation of the two sides,” he underlined.

Iranian Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Valiollah Afkhami Rad, for his part, said boosting of trade ties with world countries remains high on agenda and we are ready to welcome all trade delegations inside the country.

Head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO) went on to add that in line with the country’s Foreign Ministry officials, TPO seeks escalation of relations with Mexico; “in order to make the visits effective and constructive, we provide the ground for Mexican delegations to visit Iran’s industrial parks.”

Afkhami Rad further stated “in recent years, Iran and Mexico have reached several agreements in high-tech, Bio and Nano areas; moreover, Iran can take advantage of Mexico’s policies pertaining to reduction of economic dependence on oil.”

“One possible venue for reinvigorating bilateral ties between Tehran and Mexico City would be dialogue between economic activists of the two countries which takes place by deploying delegations as well as participating in exhibitions,” emphasized the official.

Evaluating the volume of trade between the two countries as very low, Iran’s deputy industry minister concluded “cruel sanctions are gradually being lifted and the new global atmosphere makes possible bolstering of bilateral ties.”
